We are all wounded.

Look carefully and you’ll notice that, to a greater or lesser degree, we’re all wounded.         At different times in our lives, through disappointments, rejection, betrayals, maybe through losses, mistakes, poor judgments, failures and broken dreams. Some of us hide our wounds better than others, but none of us are spared from being wounded. It's not something any of us can escape. Life wounds us all.

Wounding can take many forms. Some of us have been damaged in childhood, bullied or abused at home or in school, maybe trying to rise above harsh words or unrelenting criticism from parents or peers, that in itself, erodes self confidence and leaves its own scars. Then later in life through a series of unhealthy relationships and poor choices, we find ourselves insecure and unable to reach out and reconcile, make peace with the past so we can move on. Finding it difficulty to love and trust and feel confident enough to let people into our lives again. Not everyone is so badly damaged but to some degree whether we like to believe it or not, all of us are wounded people.
Being wounded is painful. That pain makes us appreciate how vulnerable we are and also how valuable and rich life can be if we follow Christ. Adam and Eve fell and ever since all humans have been born with a desire to rebel against God, trying to meet his needs but on their own terms.  God encourages us to follow Him and surrender to His love and kindness. If we accept His invitation then we are truly free to live our lives.
He speaks through the wounded, the vulnerable and the humble. Any age or gender, class or culture, He makes no distinctions. We have to understand that God loves us in light of our weaknesses, not in spite of them and in order to be forgiven by Christ for all our shortcomings, we have to be willing to admit when we are wrong, for our true freedom will be hindered if we choose not to forgive others, ourselves, and yes, even God.
As wounded people we understand that we can't always fix ourselves or others, so we have to place our trust in Christ, He will heal us. Yes, we will have suffered during the journey, but we will have been enriched and emerge stronger people.
