A Holy Family (@ Melody's Harmonies)

Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Family. Today's mass readings are all about the family. The first and second readings instruct the faithful family to honour and love one another, to respect and care for one another. And the gospel tells the story of the presentation of the Christ Child in the temple, the prophecies of Simeon and Anna and the early life of the Holy Family.
Christmas time drives home the importance of family: it's probably the time of the year when we appreciate the gift of family the most. But this Christmas I am really struggling to see my family in the light of the Holy Family. It's really hard to remember my husband and I are a family and our family is just as important, sacred and holy in the eyes of God as the family that has been blessed with children.\
