Standing With the Little Sisters of the Poor


It's a jarring sight during this Holy Week: American women in full religious habit standing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, surrounded by supporters. For those religious sisters, this is a week of prayer and repentance and preparation for the holiest of days. I'm sure they'd rather be anywhere but in court. The sisters didn't pick the date, though. It's a coincidence that the religious liberty case involving the Little Sisters of the Poor is being heard at the Supreme Court just before the Triduum and the celebration of Easter.
