They Preferred to Die

Has life ever handed you so many challenges that you've felt like it would be easier to die than to have to deal with what's in front of you?

Well, that's what it was like for the Israelites who were grumbling to Moses.  They had just been through so much--too much.  Then they followed Moses into the desert where things got worse. This led them to ask:

"Were there no burial places in Egypt that you had to bring us out here to die in the desert? Why did you do this to us?"

They had simply had enough.  Sometimes it is not so different for us today.  It is easy to get fed up with all of the difficulties life can throw at us.  Like the Israelites, it can feel a bit hopeless.

But there is great news!

When the Israelites reached this point, Moses told them confidently:

“Fear not! Stand your ground, and you will see the victory the LORD will win for you today."

And that is exactly what happened.  Miraculously, God saved the Israelites from the Egyptians who were pursuing them (Exodus 14:5-18).

This, too, is not so different from us today.  No matter what you are going through, know that God is with you.  He knows your pain.  He will help you get through the struggles.

You see, it is out of circumstances such as these that seem almost impossible to rise above, that God can lift us up and help us move forward; and while it may not feel like it when you are going through it, things will get better.

Just stand your ground, as Moses said, because the strength and courage found in God will support you.

He is, indeed, our loving Father who will never abandon us.  Trust that he is with you.
