Healthcare & Discrimination? Really?

I've been following what is going on in Texas with the law banning abortions after cardiac activity is detected (about six weeks).  Many people are outraged claiming that it hurts "people of color, low income and the marginalized."

Although I don't remember the exact numbers, I read about one abortionist who was upset because normally he did something like 75-85 abortions per day, and since he can't do them anymore, he has to explore other options with the women for their healthcare.

First of all, I am happy for the lives saved by the ban. Praise God!

Secondly, calling abortion healthcare (or reproductive health) is a tired and ridiculous ploy to hide a gruesome reality.  Women are not stupid and we really should no longer be buying into that marketing scheme.  How much do you suppose that abortionist was making anyway?

If you guessed between $500 and $2500+ per abortion, per day, you'd be right. It doesn't take a mathematician to see that the abortionist's income will be dramatically reduced by the ban.  Poor guy.  No wonder he's upset.

And what about all of those women of color, or the poor and vulnerable women that this ban supposedly discriminates against?  The reality is that the practice of abortion exploits them.

And finally--I'll just say it--if you and your boyfriend (as was the case for one couple in the news) have been dating for a year and are surprised by your pregnancy because you don't know if you are ready to be having a baby together, maybe there are other things you shouldn't be doing together as well.

That's not judgmental.  It's just a fact.

In the end, I think the best thing we can do is pray for these new mothers and fathers (let's not forget the dads).  Let's pray for an increase in the support system they will need.  Let's pray for them as they bring a new person into this world in the midst of personal anxiety and fear.

Let's pray for the women who have already made this decision, and for their babies who were never given the chance to live.

Let's pray for the abortionists, that they will come to see the evil they do and walk away from it and repent.

Do we really think it is God's plan that these babies should die because they are unwanted or unexpected?  Abortion is not of God.

It is time to cut through all of the media outrage about the ban and thank God for all of the lives being saved because of it. The legal protection of the unborn should be our daily prayer.

May those new parents come to see that every, single, human being is created by God and that the little one they are carrying is supposed to be here.
