Developed in the West, it is a typically meditative prayer, corresponding in some way to the “prayer of the heart” or “Jesus prayer” which took root in the soil of the Christian East.' There are various ways of beginning and ending the Rosary but the Five Mysteries are the heart of the prayer.  In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
